Articulate and Flash with Audio

eLearning Brothers

I’ve been working on an Articulate Presenter course with a lot of flash files that have audio. There are audio clips that go along with each slide. Audio placement – If you are using audio in your flash movie don’t import audio to the slide as well. If the user clicks on your flash movie before the slide audio is done, you will have overlapping audio. This script stops all audio before moving to the frame label “tool4”.

Is HTML5 Ready for eLearning Development?

Upside Learning

Audio/Video Support – HTML5 has added new video and audio tags that can play video/audio in a browser without a plugin but it doesn’t officially support any video or audio format. Also, Flash or Silverlight video/audio supports secure media streaming; there is no clear counterpart for this in HTML5. You could be a beginning Captivate user creating a self-paced page turner, you could be a Flash developer melding ActionScript and Javascript to communicate with an LMS, or you could be an instructor maxing out whiteboards and breakout rooms in Adobe Connect to synchronously engage learners. Mobile Learning Moves the Evolution of Authoring Tools

Association eLearning

eLearning created with these tools became engaging again, and though these applications did not require the kind of command-line coding expertise that TenCORE did, Actionscript (for Flash ) and Lingo (for Director ) could not be described as “simple” to use. This simple tool also allowed them to automatically create SCORM and 508-compliant modules that could be delivered on CD-ROM, web or iPod (yes, iPod – the audio automatically extracted into a download into iTunes).

The Truth About Rapid E-Learning

Rapid eLearning

Here’s the deal, you can learn Flash and actionscript to build elearning content. The only difference is that with PowerPoint you get to create your Flash movie (with animation and audio) in an environment you already know. While actionscript programming does provide more control over the Flash content, rapid elearning generally gives you a lot more convenience. Rapid elearning tools generally fall into one of two groups: freeform and form-based authoring.

Adobe shows off Captivate 4 and the Adobe eLearning Suite

Steve Howard

Choose File > New Widget in Flash from the Captivate 4 menu and, provided you have Flash CS4 installed, a new Flash file opens that includes the base ActionScript code required to start building your own widgets. Captivate and Presenter are rapid authoring tools, presumably aimed at trainers and subject experts; Photoshop and Flash (at least the animation building aspect) are professional tools normally aimed at graphic designers; Soundbooth is for audio engineers; Dreamweaver and Flash (the ActionScript development environment) would normally be used by serious web programmers.

Whatever happened to inductive learning?

Clive on Learning

OK, simple text and graphics or audio and graphics. An inductive question is much simpler; all that's required is (1) a way to present the question using a variety of media (text, images, audio, video), (2) a variety of input formats (multi-choice, multiple answer, free text input, drag and drop, etc.) It's easy; I have programmed this sort of question in no time at all in umpteen different languages (BASIC, Pascal, HTML/JavaScript, Flash ActionScript) over the years.
