I sat with three other CLO-type learning leaders from Bank of America, Disney, and Sprint. In other words, learning must be designed for consumption in (or near) the workflow – learning needs to be agile. If organizations expect their workers to become more agile, they must enhance their ability to think and draw conclusions quickly. The need for agility in learning is a shot across the bow of every training department on the planet.

In the learning and talent development field, these would include the ADDIE process used for designing and developing learning content, or the various learning theories that may have currency today, but are likely to change as learning science advances and businesses pivot their strategy and approach. For example, if your organization is implementing an Agile transformation, don’t start with training on how to use Jira, Asana or some other work-tracking platform.
