Q&A - eLearning Standards Especially SCORM

There are a bunch of other standards by ADL (who is responsible for SCORM ), IMS , IEEE LTSC including CORDRAâ„¢ , LOM , Meta-data , etc. However, as Pierre pointed out in the comments (and I've edited the text here based on his comments - thanks Pierre) - ADL's SCORM really incorporates what we need from these other standards and thus we've not needed to spend effort going into these standards separately.

ADL (Advanced Distributed Learning). The primary purpose of the LTI standard, created by the IMS Global Learning Consortium, is to connect learning systems, such as an LMS, with external service tools. Perhaps the most ubiquitous set of standards, SCORM was developed by Advanced Distributed Learning ( ADL ) and applied when developing LMS content. xAPI delivers a far more detailed view of learner progress, both online and offline.

LETSI is a new organization with worldwide sponsorship to whom ADL will be handing over stewardship of SCORM. Learning Tools Interoperability is a standard created by the IMS Global Learning Consortium. The experience API (Also known as The Tin Can API) is a relatively new specification for learning technology that makes it possible to collect data about the wide range of experiences a person has (both online and offline).
