One year ago, we kicked off a project with ADL to develop tools and resources to help accelerate the adoption of cmi5 , and ultimately xAPI, within both the DoD and across the industry as a whole. The cmi5 LMS test suite , also designed and developed by Brian, is now available to test an LMS for cmi5 conformance.

SCORM had the limitation that any learning you wanted recorded had to be eLearning ( formal learning ), online, launched in a browser from a LMS, and could only record very specific things. Therefore, any informal learning that occurred was not recordable and according to the LMS did not happen.

When I started researching SCORM in preparation for developing content and implementing an LMS, what I remember most was my frustration at the lack of any concise, hands-on information that was available about SCORM.
