Mike Rustici – Crystal Balling with Learnnovators

Learnnovators

Mike: Early adopters are broken into two categories, traditional e-learning vendors and new market entrants. Traditional vendors are largely adopting at the SCORM parity level and using Tin Can as a better way to track formal training programs. New market entrants tend to be doing the more exciting things that open up new possibilities. Tin Can doesn’t change that, and the same privacy and security practices that apply to any other industry apply equally to us.

MakingBetter

Our business boomed and so did that of many software vendors who create solutions that are tailored to meet some of the many things people use xAPI for. These are measureable outcomes of an open source community that has been lovingly and painstakingly attended by the US Department of Defense and its particular initiative, Advanced Distributed Learning. xAPI is so successful that it’s actually becoming a challenge for ADL to support it to the scale it now demands.

xAPI, LRS – The Interview

eLearning 24-7

Aaron, can you tell me a little bit about your background and how you became involved with ADL? Two months after my layoff, a company called CTC recruited me to work for ADL. I worked with ADL from 2003-2006 and participated in the Technical Working Group afterwards. This work informed the conversations with several current and former ADL friends. These conversations became something we called “ BAQON ” — a Brokered, Anonymous acQuaintance Open Network.

MakingBetter

This post is for vendors, developers and implementers of the Experience API and for anyone who may one day create something with xAPI. I’m going to ask you as vendors, entrepreneurs, developers, designers from all around the world to provide me with your counsel as I ultimately must direct the effort. I want to encourage it by keeping it as open as we can AND by making it possible for the best approaches, not just the best spin, to find adoption.

Webinar Q&A: Empowering Continuous Learning with the Experience API (xAPI)

Open Source LRS. Is there an open source LRS? Answer: There’s four different Open Source LRSs that I’m aware of: Learning Locker , ADL LRS , lxHive and TinMan. do they need to work with consulants or vendors to do it?
