What are the most important methods to adopt in addition to the tools? Tools to Make Reading & Research More Effective. This sounds a lot like a personal learning environment, personal knowledge management (PKM) and personal work and learning environment (PWLE) and PIM. The same tool and method can be highly effective for one person and not effective for others. For example, Personal Learning , PLE , PWLE , PKM are all pretty closely related.

I will say that adopting TweetDeck on both my desktop and my iPhone has made it a much better tool for me. Each of these allowed me to fast forward my learning and share knowledge effectively. I realized that a lot of the networking that I had done in person in the past could move online and actually be a much more effective use of time. So, why not look to make this more explicit and effective? It’s very powerful stuff and an important extension to my PWLE.
