If I were to start over, I could see using Google+ over Facebook or Twitter. So adoption could be quite fast. JU: I think it’s the best of Twitter plus the best of Facebook. But Google+ also encourages deeper communication by having no character limit and keeping the whole conversation in one place (one strength of Facebook). The comparison to Facebook is tougher. I’ve never been a fan of adding professional contacts in Facebook.

He made several interesting points about the blurring of boundaries between public and private (think of webcams and Facebook status updates for example) and that technology tends to distract us from 'who we are'. Our immersion in media, he argues, provides us with a myriad of alternative role models we can adopt or adapt. Does wishing to be someone else mean that you actually adopt their identity?

My recent post on disruptive activism and Edupunk provoked some good discussion, not only on this blog, but also elsewhere on Twitter and on my own Facebook account , where I had shared the link. I am rarely an early adopter, but once I am convinced about the advantages of a new technology I am keen to promote it. I adopted CD audio quite early on, but held off going completely digital with iTunes until a couple of years ago.

Does my identity change when I am on Facebook?
