I would actually like to believe that the community of people interested in the use of technology for learning and performance support would form a vibrant online community, exchanging ideas, making connections, etc. And, it's worse when you are targeting a particular community that doesn't have a great adoption rate.

I think Tony's conclusion to the article may have been the most telling: Unless your organization is a true early adopter, it is premature to invest a ton of resources in VWs. It's still a ways away before these environments are going to help us much with true doing. Nonetheless, we encourage you to dip your toe in the virtual water.
