Tool Set 2009

Tony Karrer

I thought I'd kick off this year by posting a series of posts on topics related to tools and methods for work and learning. What are the most important methods to adopt in addition to the tools? Setting up a SharePoint for a community or work team is very different from teaching them about Personal Learning. In fact, the lack of attention to this topic was the reason I founded Work Literacy in June of 2008. Assess your adoption as you go.

Observations of a Critical Theory newbie

E-Learning Provocateur

It’s human nature to accept knowledge that’s universally propagated. Critical theorists argue that knowledge is shaped by human interests of different kinds, rather than standing ‘objectively’ independent from these interests.&#. We live in a knowledge economy.

Time Spent on Blogging

Tony Karrer

is how much time I spend on blog reading and writing and how anyone can work that into their already too busy life. I also got a form of this among the questions from the grad student (I'm slowly working through these.) Realize this is high, but much of my professional work is staying up to speed. I still take lots of electronic notes, but as I formulate more specific ideas, I definitely use the blog as a sounding board.

Jay Cross

Jay Cross examines decision making on learning at work, and gives the lie to some myths about the use of business metrics. Business is about making sound decisions. Knowledge Workers. The knowledge worker’s objective is to learn what it takes to do the best she can.
