Agile Learner; Agile Leader

The Performance Improvement Blog

I have to admit that prior to hearing Elliott Masie talk about “learning agility” last week at the virtual Human Captial Media Symposium for CLOs , the concept was not on my radar. However, aspiring to be agile myself (mentally and physically), I’m willing to learn something new and, maybe, discard some old notions about human development and leadership. It appears that there are at least three definitions of learning agility being used in the field.

Learning Agility and its Role in Leadership

CLO Magazine

One of the great mysteries of leadership development programs, succession planning initiatives and high-potential efforts is how effective they are at capturing the results of past efforts and predicting the capability of someone to master as-yet-unknown challenges. In Learning About Learning Agility , a white paper from researchers at Teachers College, Columbia University and the Center for Creative Leadership, the authors argue that agile learners are life-long learners. They write that agile learners….

What Agile Means to Me

ID Reflections

Needless to say, an understanding (albeit very rudimentary) of the Agile philosophy supersedes all other learning (and that has been plentiful too). Coming from a very traditional, waterfall-driven background replete with all the drawbacks (what I perceive as drawbacks in comparison now), it took me quite a while to assimilate the philosophy—even the basics of Agile. This is the state of being truly adaptive and agile. Expertise KM learning Agile Workplace Learning

Why Trainers Should Use Agile

My thesis included: — delivering small nuggets of learning incrementally rather than waiting until the entire learning program was complete — allowing learners to quickly absorb at least some of the required knowledge and skills — rapidly translate those skills into incremental performance improvements. I had never heard of agile at that time. So, if you want to close the training value gap, I encourage you to use agile
