SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is a standardized model for content distribution and reuse that enables synchronized delivery of learning materials to computer-based training (CBT) systems. There are also other standards like xapi, also known as an experience api (tin can api), cmi5 and AICC for advanced capabilities.

AICC (Aviation Industry Computer-Based-Training Committee): The first official eLearning content standard, AICC was developed by the Aviation Industry CBT Committee in 1993 as a CD-ROM based standard. A predecessor to SCORM, AICC was difficult to work with and many steps were required to get content in the format running in an LMS.

In 2002, a company created video courses that were AICC compliant and could be bookmarked. I refer back to the old days of Geo, who offered a front end that had an elevator then you could click with your mouse and then choose a floor (it had five). It is understandable.sort of. It was revoluntary. So, what killed it?
