Q&A - eLearning Standards Especially SCORM

Tony Karrer

But, I'm going to try to make a practice of creating blog posts around some of the questions. SCORM is a fairly easy standard to deal with especially since most people are fine with a single SCO that does only single score/completion reporting. Most LMS systems have ways to launch these kinds of reference systems (they are just a web page after all). AICC goes after the same thing as what I've described above for SCORM (tracking under an LMS).

LMS tracking Click Tracking In Click Tracking, you rely on looking at logs of what pages have been clicked on and get reports via log file analysis (web analytics) tools such as WebTrends. If they cannot, then you can do what I've done on this blog and embed SiteMeter onto all of your web pages and it will give you similar kinds of reports. In fact, if you go to the link at the bottom of my blog (you can't see this in the RSS feed), you can see what traffic I get.

Webinar Q&A: Empowering Continuous Learning with the Experience API (xAPI)

Experience API

See Brian Miller’s Deep Dive blog for a deeper dive. I understand the way you can track an information, activity from the web but not for the others sources of learning. How is the data you get from the LRS different that web-traffic data that you could get from a web analytics tool such as Google Analytics? Google Analytics can only be used for web based content. Google Analytics only collects data in aggregate about the usage of web resources.
