The downside of the 2004 version is that fewer LMS vendors support it due to its complexity. There are other elearning standards like xAPI (Tin Can), cmi5, and AICC for more advanced capabilities. Equation tool – I’ve seen more vendors add this thing – and unless you are in education I can’t see why you would use it. HTML5 output including a PPT converter to HTML5. SCORM 2004, AICC. #4 Scenario branching. Audio recording and editing. 8 easygenerator. Action-based object’s animation.

Innovation abounded and the push to focus on the “PPT to Flash&# angle continued to shine. Also SCORM 1.2 & AICC. Sure, other vendors will say you can do that too, but you have to open each object file to get it. Import and convert PPT to the web, add rich media. LMS, web, CD, etc., Who has time?

This is a growing market with new vendors showing up, but at the same time, others disappearing. Is it PowerPoint converted to Flash? Microsoft Word converted to Flash? PowerPoint or Word converted to Flash, instant, virtually no add-ons, i.e. additional learning objects. 43 Vendors do not have one. That was then.

In the authoring tool world: PowerPoint focused authoring tool, Basically you know PPT, love it and want the ability to build within it and then convert your PPT to a Course. 2004, AICC, PENS, TinCan) would be equally relevant. Nor would I select a tool that is really a PowerPoint converter. condo, house, etc.
