Innovation abounded and the push to focus on the “PPT to Flash&# angle continued to shine. Also SCORM 1.2 & AICC. iPod, mobile phones, YouTube, message boards, e-mail. Import and convert PPT to the web, add rich media. Some acquisitions, some goodbyes, but overall very strong. LMS, web, CD, etc., Supports HD h.264

This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . In all the years I have attended and have known about ATD (formally ASTD), this year is by far the most in terms of e-learning vendors, especially those in the LMS space.

The downside to training management products is the inability to upload any other 3rd party authoring tool or courses from an off the shelf vendor. Yeah, you can upload word docs, PPT, etc. I’m not a fan of AICC – IMO in the past, but the same structure follows as the authoring tool above.

Many people today prefer 3rd party authoring tools and in fact, I recommend that route rather then using a vendor’s built in authoring tool. SCORM, AICC. Offers e-commerce module: Yes. Under course is a PPT 2010 QRC, yet under the categories section, you see “downloadable reference” Guess what?

An alarming rate of “get the content up now, ASAP&# regardless of what it looks like, instructional design is typically tossed out the window, especially when the ID, CD or whomever is tasked to create is handed a stream of documents in Word or PPT or some other form.
