Day 4. Getting to grips with SCORM API

LearnUpon

On day three , we learned that the packaging aspect, or Content Aggregation Model (CAM), defines how an authoring tool or eLearning developer should package their course into a zip file. LMSInitialise : This piece of SCORM fancy talk allows the course to say: “Hey, a learner started the course, or learners launched the course, so you, LMS, do stuff!” The SCORM now knows that the bookmark was saved and it doesn’t need to get angry about the potential for lost data.

Webinar Q&A: Empowering Continuous Learning with the Experience API (xAPI)

Experience API

Activity Providers always need to know who a learner is in order to send the LRS data about that learner, which can either be done by having the learner log into the activity provider, or some kind of launch/single-sign-on process. Questions: Do you need a LMS and a LRS? How do you best see xAPI interfacing with an LMS? Some do include simple reports. How do you remind learners to click the bookmarklet to say they ‘did this’?
