xAPI: Why Should I Care and What Could It Do for Me?

Meridian

The purpose of the initiative was to develop a standard for eLearning that would meet the needs of both federal and private sectors to replace AICC and correct previous problems. Just think about the last time you observed how much Google, Facebook and Apple seem to know about you as a person. xAPI is a learning answer to this problem and provides many capabilities beyond SCORM. Perhaps getting learners to the training more easily is the problem.

Integrated Learnings

A second challenge with using online conferencing tools is that they do not provide an option for output to AICC or SCORM for integration into a Learning Management System (LMS). You then publish the course to SCORM or AICC for integration into your LMS…but more on that in a later post.

Integrated Learnings

This post is Part 2 in a series intended to list some ways to use Lectora that avoid problems, reduce development time, and make development easier overall. While this is perfectly acceptable and functional, it can lead to development problems. By Joseph Suarez.

RIP Old LMS… Say Hello to the Next-Gen LMS

5 E-Learning Forecasts for 2012

eLearning 24-7

The problem though lies in the fact that once you add some features, eventually you will need to add more and more (HRIS modules for example), which then places you into the ERP space and those vendors. People who use Facebook and Twitter prefer those over your own FB like page and micro blog. I only know of a few vendors who have integrated FB and Twitter APIs into their systems – so it is actually Twitter and Facebook. .

E-Learning Screen recording and video solutions – Should b simple, so why isn’t it?

Support (as in output) to AICC/SCORM – a major win! Upload screencasts to YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo or S3 (and the program tells you the limits YouTube allows – something many vendors do not). But the problem lies in the details or more specifically the features. At one time screen recording software (including capturing) was a simple endeavor. You recorded the screen, could change the screen size – as in full capture, a part, window, etc.

K-12 and LMSs are Broken, Who’s to Blame?

eLearning 24-7

The problem though is that there is a crisis going on in the K-12 sector and it is tied in part to e-learning (with wins and losses) and LMS vendors who serve that sector. SCORM including 1.2/2004, AICC, Common Cartridge. Facebook like design for social – YUCK. How many teachers – raise of hands please – are aware that kids are leaving in droves from Facebook and going to Snapchat? Back in the 90’s I taught high school and loved it.

Wifi becoming more ubiquitous and 4G evolving and probably won't be a problem in 5yrs time in UK. Focus questions (as voted for by delegates around the table): 4) Tin Can Replacement for SCORM/AICC. What have they done within the 'big four' parameters of SCORM/AICC. I have Facebook why am I going to stay on system, I'm going to go to Facebook! Problems: What happens if go to LMS without an LRS, where does that data store sit?
