#HRTECH Learning Vendors Preview – Who to see and who to avoid

eLearning 24-7

Well, not yet, but it is coming up and with that are all those wonderful vendors and that magical expo. But one of the biggest problems I see at such shows are the number of vendors who in hindsight I wished I avoided. I recall at ATD this past year, a vendor who was trying to sell people ahead of time their LMS. And, because many of the other vendors who are here at HR Tech, really are just average to poor (but not everyone). Plus why are you AICC course standard?

One Step Behind

In 2002, a company created video courses that were AICC compliant and could be bookmarked. The vendor? GeoLearning. e-learning e-learning vendors elearning m-learning craig weiss E-Learning 24/7 future mobile learning streaming from internet technology

LMS Satisfaction Features and Barriers

Tony Karrer

These are being reported out of the larger eLearningGuild population and I would claim that they are likely more accurate than survey research that goes through the vendors themselves. Several of the LMS vendors appear more than once, such as Oracle. However, I would be concerned if I was a starter LMS vendor because Moodle is going to cause you grief in the bottom of the market. They can be used to see how LMS vendors stack up against particular features. Update, Nov.

What has been applying is the term mobile learning and how it it pitched to consumers in the e-learning sector, especially with LMS/LCMS/Learning platform vendors. Under this mobile learning misrepresentation, I can tell you that nearly every system out there – can make this argument – because if you can open up Safari and go to the vendor’s web site and then into your SaaS based LMS – then guess what? AICC/SCORM/IMS.

PENS – Why your LMS and Authoring Tool Solution should include it

In 2005, PENS was launched by AICC but did not initially gain wide acceptance. In the past year, I have seen a wider number of vendors including the PENS course standard, which in my opinion, enables anyone who builds courses, a streamlined and fast process for publishing into a LMS/learning platform. After getting my PhD in Educational/Counseling psychology I went to work for a small startup, GeoLearning. Additionally, why would a vendor want to offer it?
