Looking for systematicity, the aviation industry created a subcommittee to develop standards for Computer Based Training: the Aviation Industry CBT Committee (AICC). The goal was to create interoperability of content, so that any content created can play on anybody’s system, and vice versa. . Quite simply, there’s more to learning than courses.

SCORM 2004, AICC, and xAPI-based “Tin Can” packages, as well as custom content using our Rustici Cross Domain API (we called it SDXD at the time). SCORM 2004, or AICC. As of Content Controller v2.1 , you can also share your content as an IMS LTI tool provider. If you want to create your content using all the neat features and xAPI-based results tracking available in, say, cmi5, you can still make it available in an LMS that only supports SCORM 1.2.

SCORM vs. LTI: what’s the difference?

Recently, we updated our products Content Controller and Rustici Dispatch to allow them to export content as LTI, which is a valuable feature for those in the academic space (years ago, we added this feature to SCORM Cloud Dispatch , and already Rustici Dispatch and Content Controller allowed you to import SCORM, xAPI, cmi5 or AICC content and export it as SCORM and AICC to other platforms). LTI is focused on connecting learning systems in a standard way.
