“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

— Dr. Seuss

We’re off to Chicago this weekend for a whirlwind visit of colleges, culture, and comedy! First off, we’re checking out a couple of colleges. Then we’re heading over to the Museum of Science & Industry to check out the U-boat and other cool things. And while we’re here we’re also gonna hit up a show at Second City. Here’s hoping the travel gods are in a good mood and the weather plays nice. Fingers crossed!

The 8 Marketing Skills All L&Ders Need

You may know that I’m a big believer in stealing marketing skills for use L&D. This MAAS Marketing webinar discusses 8 essential marketing skills that L&D professionals should develop. Among those are the importance of understanding your learners as human beings rather than just “learners”, focusing on their intrinsic motivations, and marketing the overall concept of learning rather than just individual programs.

🎯 Take away: Learning professionals can amplify their impact by borrowing marketing strategies to engage and influence their audience.

AI: the New Electricity?

Dr. Philippa Hardman thinks that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a big deal, like how electricity changed everything a long time ago. She says that AI is changing how we live, like doing jobs for us and helping us do things better. She doesn’t think we should only see AI as something that takes away jobs. Instead, she believes AI can help us think better and do more important work, just like electricity helps people do more than just work all the time. She wants us to see AI as something that can do the boring stuff for us and also help us do the really cool stuff. This could change how we work, go to school, and do lots of other things in life.

🎯 Take away: Just as electricity transformed society with widespread impact, AI is poised to fundamentally reshape our capabilities, automating mundane tasks and amplifying human potential.
