Started by three people in New Zealand, and equally a system to watch, which I did all those years ago, when most people were focused on players such as SumTotal. Skills-Base – This is 100% focused on skills metrics/analytical data. A vendor to watch.

Moodle dominates – from a market share, and user base – it was built first and foremost for Academia, and it is open source, which is free, and so anyone can build a system with it. SumTotal Learning Management – Feature rich system, very strong in compliance and regulatory, knows the space well. Runner Ups.

Top 50 LMS Report for 2016 – What you need to know (criteria, approach, and yeah some vendors)

I identify the Big Dogs as SumTotal by Skillsoft (yes, that is the actual name), Cornerstone OnDemand, Saba, SucessFactors and Oracle Taleo (although, I ask myself who is using this and if you still are why?). SumTotal by Skillsoft – the 2016 re-haul is a huge plus. SumTotal by Skillsoft.

Learning Systems for 2018 (#25 to #16)

I removed any vendor built 100% on free open source or open source whereas it is always 100% customized so that one could build a mega monster or build a 1995 version. For folks who think I ignore the big dog vendors, sorry to disappoint, but Saba, SumTotal Learn and Cornerstone Learning Suite are in the Top 50.
