From a vendor perspective there was a huge impact, but what was odd, is that some vendors still are living in the past, as though, this is a minor blip, and in 2021, everything will go back as it was – corporate wise that is. Sorry to disappoint – but it won’t. . that needed a system. I know it seems odd.

Maybe you purchased it via Open Sesame, or Skillsoft. Maybe you scored it via Wiley, but in many possibilities you purchased the content thru your LMS vendor. What if instead of focusing primarly on the LMS, you went courses first from a vendor and in return got the LMS for free. But, what if the reverse was doable?

Measure your content – Analytical data and reporting on your learning system is located in this step. Another vendor has one-page articles if you will, where learners print out and use. First off, this vendor houses it on their own servers, not on the LMS. What can be done to make it more so? That is 100% untrue.

That said, there were some hiccups and from an entire vendor wise (expo here) angle, some unique and some, uh. This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . I see way too many vendors think a web site is all they need and people will find them.

Some base analytics – who took the course, completed the course, maybe progress. The analytics often are just a couple of histogram charts, but simple. I should note that you cannot use any 3rd party vendor authoring tool to upload courses into these systems. Reports – just a few.

I will say that I’m not a fan of the analytics angle, because it opens up the approach that you could use the system in a somewhat manner of an LCMS or mini LMS (many SaaS authoring tools follow that path – and I dislike that too). I am aware of at least one vendor who includes five courses at no additional charge into their LMS.

PENS is nearly non-existent in this segment and CMI-5 is extremely new and few vendors have it – expect more in 2019. Don’t worry though, I have that feature in Reports/Analytics ( time tracking). This is something that is being seen with some LMS vendors actually, and it should be something with LEPs. You want it.

The minus: vendors come out of the woodwork to tell you their system meets those needs. No vendor could say honestly that their system is the best for you, because they are missing a lot of information. Write vendors’ names on pencils and throw them at the ceiling. Whichever sticks – is your vendor.

There are LMS vendors who offer a standalone MLMS, but also can interface it with their own system and may just pitch it as a “mobile” component. Supports at least one of the compliance standards.

Select up to four vendors and compare them! Solid work in data visualization and analytics. One of the strongest Reporting and Analytics I’ve seen. Analytics are quite good. #13 Built around brain-based studies (from the vendor, not me), provided a lot of data based on my inquiries, which was refreshing.

Even if these new little cloud vendors offered more elegant features, they were not built to run in large-scale enterprise settings, so the chance of gaining a foothold was slim. While most LMS vendors support direct uploads within their systems, they prefer embedded or linked videos from YouTube , Wistia , Vimeo or Brightcove.
