Articulate. With Articulate, you can create interactivity to a presentation by adding slide layers, drag-and-drop interactions, quizzing, screen recording, and software simulation. Screencast-O-Matic is free for Windows or Mac users. Camtasia costs more at $299, but is one of the best screen capturing tools for Windows or Mac.

Articulate Storyline 3 – Back from the throes of the SL2, which sorry was still an update IMO. Articulate 360 – uh, my mom always said if it isn’t nice don’t say it, but Rise should be called Deflate. iSpring 8.7 – If you like Articulate Studio, you are going to really love iSpring 8.7.

11 desktop authoring tools work with Mac OS. Articulate has told me that they have an issue with Windows 8 for both Storyline and Studio, but are working on fixing it. Desktop authoring tool vendors who realized this thing was fast approaching are: Articulate. iSpring Pro but it only converts PPT to HTML5.

Today, I am sharing my views on the 3 widely used tools -Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and Lectora Inspire 16. Articulate Storyline 2, Adobe Captivate 9 and Lectora Inspire 16. Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate support Mac and Windows Operating systems where as Lectora supports Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8,and 10.

Feature sets – they have to be more than PPT to Flash or add an audio clip and video clip to the course. – This is a tool that for fans of Articulate who may want some additional capabilities might enjoy. Articulate Studio – Stale. If they are stale – seriously do you deserve to the best? Final Note.

PowerPoint – Ability to integrate or use PPT in your courses. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. I believe once Articulate and some of the other big names truly launch products (such as Storyline), the market will wait. Works on Mac. Again, why?
