If you do get a budget then you can stretch your money by purchasing the lower resolution images. You don’t need print-quality images for elearning courses. I usually get my images from Fotolio or iStockphoto but there are dozens of good stock image sites. I found a bunch of business card images online.

I took some images I had on hand and wrote the script on the fly. So don’t pay attention to the content, just look at how I used the tool to build a mini elearning scenario. In the next example I extended my rapid elearning tools in two ways. And because I built the images in PowerPoint, I can modify them in minutes.

Start by selecting the clip art image, ungrouping it, and making the customizations you need. I also like to save the new image as a.png. I try to stick with the same image style and remove all of the background items that make clip art look like clip art. Create Characters by Pulling Them Out of Stock Images.

If you look at the images I recommended and the images I used in the course, you’ll see that I didn’t use the images I recommended. That’s where my earlier tip to find an image pack really works. For example, if you’re working with a rapid elearning tool and they’re showing you something that has to be custom programmed in Flash, it’s good to know this before you invest too much time on the project. You’ll have the right images and you’ll also have a better understanding of what the client wants.

Creating the avatar is simply a matter of uploading an image and then applying the settings so that the mouth and eyes are detected. Considering how fast it converts the images to speaking avatars, I’m pretty impressed with the overall quality. Instead of a static image, you have a talking head. Create an Animated Avatar.
