Review of ASTD International Trade Expo

eLearning 24-7

With great anticipation I entered the huge expo at ASTD International show earlier this week. If you think they used the ASTD app and wrote down some notes, I think you would be surprised. I would love to see a survey from ASTD sent one week after the show to attendees asking them what vendors they visited online with specific requirements that they did so, without visiting the ASTD app, ASTD online site showing the exhibitors and their web sites and the heavy book.

Recap of ASTD TechKnowledge 2013: Day 1

eLearning 24-7

Okay, the first day of ASTD TK13 has wrapped up – at least from the expo side of the house. One of their problems has always been the price point – way too high, but now others are in the game and why they don’t necessarily have the design similar to CB, they do have the ease of use angle. Thursday: Recap day two of the ASTD TK13 show, including expo. Excuse any strange text breaks – writing from the WordPress iOS app.

ASTD International trade show wrap up day 2

eLearning 24-7

Back for another installment of the ASTD international trade show. In this amazing episode we find out that not all mobile devices are really mobile (according to a vendor), the new six letter word is Tin Can, mobile only products still exist, my game is your game and ASTD did not offer a breakfast for us. Anyway, at ASTD International there were quite a few gamification products out there with many having base similar features: Accumulate points. ASTD m-learning

ISD and the Problem of Change

There Is No Chalk

ASTD posted a column by Laleh Patel reviewing a study by ASTD and I4cp on the rapid advancement of learning development technologies, and where companies are in adopting new instructional strategies. The study found that a shocking 97% of polled companies still use the traditional classroom for current courses. MOOCs to Bridge the Workplace Skills Gap

Your Training Edge

However, out of disruption comes innovation, and if we can set these two trends on a collision course, we might find a perfect solution for the skills gap problem, which is predicted to take a heavy toll on U.S. According to Bridging the Skills Gap , a 2012 report of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), a recent survey found that 84 percent of ASTD members saw a skills gap in their company. So, what do we do about this problem?
