I primarily design self-paced eLearning programs. What kinds of programs do you design? Im guessing youre designing online distance learning courses. Im in the weird place of for-profit education, which really has characteristics of both market sectors. Do you have a graduate degree in ID? What do you do?

This hasnt gotten onto my radar before -- Im not sure if there are any state-funded online programs in Massachusetts. Within higher ed, Im sure well continue to see growth in online, but it is starting to plateau a bit. Im wondering if we should be talking about tiers of instructional design. Work with 3D tools like Second Life. Craft distance learning events for college credit that pull together elements of both asynchronous and synchronous learning experiences. Today Im feeling more like a hazy purple. But maybe it does.

Im curious what other folks experiences has been. Im so happy to see you post this up. Im struggling with this right now. How do you finish a program that isnt there? Im not on to trying to source another college or university to try out. Any advice on a great school/program would be greatly appreciated by myself.

I think that this hits the point that for many people on the receiving end, elearning is synonymous with asynchronous courses. Maybe Im smart enough that I would have said that anyway.but maybe not. And by asking this, Im not suggesting that design isnt important, for it is - its seen by some as part of the pedagogy. We put together training programs that meet all the needs of an organization, community, individual or group. Karl, Of course Im trying to bait you!
