“Digital Mindset”: What Is It All About?

This post is an attempt to distill some of the skills/attitude/knowledge that possibly make up the “digital mindset” In an attempt to crystallize the skill sets, some of the finer nuances have been lost. This diagram, by putting in perspective the characteristics of a workplace of the 21st Century, acts as a trigger to define certain qualities that everyone (employees, leaders, managers, partners, customers, and all other stakeholders) need to inculcate today.

One of the ways to keep on top of our game, and remain on the cutting edge of relevant skills and knowledge is to be a part of communities of practices and to focus on building and maintaining our PLNs with a deliberate intention to learn, share and collaborate. Learning networks are based on the theory of Connectivism, or learning from diverse social webs. I would also like to emphasize that PLN is intricately linked to one''s personal knowledge management (PKM) capabilities.

The fundamental pillars of social learning have always been trust and a willingness to share and cooperate. What we have lost today are precisely the art of communicating with openness and trust.
