AAC (m4a)–audio. open source software options: Audacity. Mixer–no open source ones out there, but Audacity does a lot. Pop filters–you can buy it at any audio supply or use an old screen door and bend it around your mic. At the other end of the spectrum, you can use a headset mic and Audacity.

Audacity is an open source audio editor. I usually record my audio directly in the rapid elearning tools.
