Using Dazzle’s software, he couldn’t figure out why the audio control was grayed out ( I suspect it had something to do with the default setting on the computer ) and since I didn’t want to stop watching the Stanley Cup playoffs to mess with this audio glitch, I told him to look at Audacity (open source audio recording).

Podcasts are fairly easy for anyone to make and with the free downloadable software, Audacity , it becomes an inexpensive option. Users can record and edit audio with Audacity and it runs on most operating systems, including Mac OS X and Windows. Dimdim has an open source version so developers can integrate it with other software.

The ability to record audio in real time or post time makes a lot of sense and eliminates the need for using Audacity (albeit it is a wonderful and free product). There is something wrong when a free and open source product like Audacity can do it, yet a product that costs hundreds of dollars cannot. Especially the post.
