Podcasts are fairly easy for anyone to make and with the free downloadable software, Audacity , it becomes an inexpensive option. Users can record and edit audio with Audacity and it runs on most operating systems, including Mac OS X and Windows. Dimdim has an open source version so developers can integrate it with other software.

All the Open source systems – again you must add TinCan API on your own. Latitude Learning – only if you have the open source solution and you must add TinCan API on your own. Audio editing – still no match to Audacity, a free program. Litmos – but only assessments. Authoring Tools.

Audacity is an audio recording and editing application with a lot of the features you find in commercial products. It’s open source software, yet actually has some Help documentation. It’s cross-platform, open source and plays most video and audio formats as well as converts files from one format to another.
