Audacity is an open source audio editor. I usually record my audio directly in the rapid elearning tools. However, if I have a larger project, then I like to break my production up into chunks and keep my audio separate. Format Factory lets you convert media from one format to another. FLV Player. I'm now convinced it's media - simple, linear audio and video. I thought about Captivate, but that only exports Flash movies (SWFs). I thought about using special video converters to get to the output formats I wanted, but I was worried about what all this processing would do to the quality. This worked fine too.
