What Is E-learning? – Is It Just a Glorified PPT?

CommLab India

Is it just adding audio narration to a PowerPoint deck and publishing it to the web, using authoring tools such as Articulate Studio? A good online course is much more than a mere PowerPoint presentation used in an instructor-led session with audio. So, when you convert a classroom PPT into an online course, you must gather the “missing” 50% of the content to ensure the course has a smooth, logical flow. PPT presentations lack interactivities, critical to self-paced learning.

Hotspots for a 2D Image – workflow 2 (close button/lightbox)

Adobe Captivate

A week ago I published a first showcase , explaining how to replicate the hotspot workflow for VR projects on a 2D image. This second article about using hotspots for a 2D image is not duplicating as closely that same feature: instead of showing the popups for a duration defined by the developer, this workflow will offer a close button for the popups. I used the same image (welcome screen) and content for the popups as i the first workflow. Last hotspot is for the PPT.

PowerPoint or Prezi: Which is Best for eLearning?

Association eLearning

The question is becoming more and more common — “Should I use PowerPoint (PPT) or Prezi?” The two presentation programs share many of the same features, such as the ability to include text, images, audio, and video. Regardless of whether you use PPT or Prezi, content and design are key. I’ve already written about how to create eLearning using PPT, so I won’t re-visit that here. You can import PPT slides into Prezi to use them as a foundation.

Using PPts Online & Dual-Coding Theory

Coffee and Design

When PPt as a medium is used face-to-face there should be an expert there to provide the narration that guides the slides. The learner is able to receive instruction through the ears and see (hopefully brief) text and images on the slides. Cognitive psychologists like Allan Paivio would argue that this form of instruction affords the “dual-coding theory” because both visual and verbal information is processed (see image). What about when PPt as an online medium?
