When Is Audio Narration Helpful?

Experiencing eLearning

In a discussion on eLearning Heroes , Judith Reymond asked about the research on when or whether audio narration is helpful to adult learners. I usually don’t provide audio feedback on practice activities to give people a break. I’ll sometimes provide other kinds of interaction or content delivery to provide a break from the audio (tabs or “click to reveal” text). What are your experiences with audio, especially with on-screen text?

Learning Interaction and Audio on Main Timeline

Adobe Captivate

Hi all, I’ve built a slide with a five-tab learning interaction. Each content panel in the interaction includes audio. There is also audio on the main slide timeline. I can’t figure out a way to stop the main slide audio when a tab on the interaction is clicked, and this results in two audio files playing at the same time. Is there a way I can disable the main timeline audio when the interaction buttons are pressed?

Designing Elearning without Audio

The Learning Dispatch

Here are some ways to construct elearning without audio. Who doesn’t love audio narration in elearning? Yet audio can be difficult, for both the learner and the training program. Learners need to have an environment where they can play the audio through speakers; or find headphones to plug in. In addition, audio can significantly increase production time and cost. So what are the options if you decide to rely on an approach that doesn’t use audio?

Digital Interaction Design to Tangible Interaction Design

Upside Learning

Interaction design is almost always a synthesis of traditional methods and approaches from varied established disciplines. When I write about interaction, most people reading it view it in the context of software or some form of digital technology. Interaction” isn’t only about technology or software. Tangible interaction designers work on the integration of technology and its effects on human experience. Tangible interaction is the physical embodiment of computation.

eLearning: When Should You Record Your Voiceover Audio?

The Logical Blog by IconLogic

by Kevin Siegel      Adding voiceover audio to eLearning enhances the learner experience. And before you spend thousands of dollars hiring voiceover talent to record your audio, you should know: your voice is fine (nobody likes their own voice so trust me on this, yours will do nicely). I've found that the voiceover audio does not have to be highly produced to be effective.   But when should you record your audio?

Adobe Captivate 6: Audio Control Without a Playbar
