Feature sets – they have to be more than PPT to Flash or add an audio clip and video clip to the course. Mobile Learning/HTML5 output – doesn’t hurt and has to be considered. I’ve seen some authoring tools that fit most of the criteria above, but whose ease of use is substandard or even really bad.

Tools these days come in three flavors. Authoring Tools for developers. The biggest problem facing the industry in the past few years are the lack of course authoring tools for e-learning developers and instructional designers. MLOAT - Multimedia Learning Object Authoring Tool. A combination of both.

Initially I wasn’t going to post authoring tool rankings beyond the top ten, until July. 20 eLab - The user interface is intriguing and enables anyone to build a course, without having the typical “ooh that looks so lame” with some rapid content authoring tools. . #20 AICC, SCORM and PENS support.

Authoring Tools. In 2012 it has been all about collaborative/peer review with authoring products, and it still will be in 2013, but the avatars/actors with/without backgrounds are going to be in “fuego” Where can it go? Listen you love flash. For each of these items in e-learning. Actors & Avatars.

They involved talent management, “hello and goodbye” with vendors, social learning, upswing in mobile learning, new feature sets in the authoring tool space, flat lining in web conferencing and standalone platforms. I have seen continued interest and downloads for open source AR tool kits. M-Commerce.
