A Look Back at 2020 for E-Learning

eLearning 24-7

It is a syllabus and Zoom or whatever web conferencing solution you are calling a flipped classroom. Authoring tools continued to be a mish-mash, with many continuing to forget what their number one goal truly is – creating content/courses.

A Look Back at E-Learning in 2012

eLearning 24-7

Sadly though many still are in the dark on true mobile learning – i.e. not accessing their platform via a mobile web browser. Authoring Tools – With only a small sample of vendors that are SaaS based, pickings are slim. Web Conferencing – You would think that all these services would have a native app for tablets. 5 E-Learning Forecasts for 2012

eLearning 24-7

They involved talent management, “hello and goodbye” with vendors, social learning, upswing in mobile learning, new feature sets in the authoring tool space, flat lining in web conferencing and standalone platforms. I have seen continued interest and downloads for open source AR tool kits. If you are still a huge fan of ILT or believe a blended learning approach is necessary, why stick only to PowerPoint, handouts and long talks?

LMS or LXP – Confused?

eLearning 24-7

I have seen a few posts on LinkedIn by people calling a learning system – learning software. No, it is not learning software. The Sierra Titles of the 90s and early 2000s, were learning software offerings. Classroom management – including resource mgt, facilities management – CM is for ILT – as in a physical internment. Compliance feature sets – Document management tool, digital signature, workflows, and so forth.

Review of #ASTD2014 International Conference and Expo

eLearning 24-7

Estimate 55% e-learning related content, including e-learning vendors and ILT vendors who added a “virtual training” component as part of their offerings. An ILT product that has so much e-learning potential and recognized it as a possibility down the road – I respect that! : ). Great to see Saba attend the event. Welcome back, Saba, we missed you – okay, some people missed you, okay a few.okay.a On the authoring tool side of the house.

My 2012 Enterprise mLearning Predictions Recap

mLearning Trends

Back on December 30 2011, I scoped eight predictions ranging from hardware/software to content types and authoring tools to macro-level mobility trends our team felt would influence the market for mLearning products and services for the year and I wasn’t disappointed (or much surprised) about how it all played out. ATD2015 Conference Post – Review

eLearning 24-7

I can honestly say, the ATD show is changing from ILT driven (it has always been that way) to e-learning improvement. This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . Growth Engineering LMS – #1 in my Top 50 and their launch of Genie, their authoring tool which comes with the system, but can also be a stand alone. This is their authoring tool. Well hello there!

Why do you require a specialized learning platform and not a learning module of an HCM?

Disprz

The era of specialization is here – this is true of people and software systems as well! If you are an HR professional, you will not look for a computer programmer today – you will look to hire a Ruby on Rails expert with 6-9 years of experience in Agile software development! Much in proportion, software are getting specialized as well (in future you will see them super-specialized). Because all software at the end of the day are created for people.

LMSs that kick ass: Mzinga

Janet Clarey

Q: What social media tools is Mzinga incorporating into their LMS? Mzinga believes that while traditional web-based training and eLearning courses have provided great ROI and cost reduction, they lack the social aspect of learning—the diversity in perspective, the insights, and the real-world stories and sharing that have always happened in a classroom. Q: What drove your decision to incorporate social media tools into your LMS? It’s Friday yay!
