I know of companies who only hire instructional designers and buy Rapid elearning tools and expect the ID to do it all themselves to reduce the cost and over head of hiring graphic designers as well. Every software interaction and menu is explained in detail. eLearning vendors (those that design custom courseware) are often handed the course to be built. So the vendor scopes it out and does the design work, the storyboarding, the development work. Im interested to see what responses you might get. Its all there.

Im just about to kickoff a new project with a manufacturing organization to produce some custom courses. Im gonna call them an "immature e-Learning organization." Say, if youre purchasing a course library from SkillSoft or some other vendor: If a client has their own LMS, do they purchase the courses outright and host them on their own servers?
