K-12 and LMSs are Broken, Who’s to Blame?

The problem though is that there is a crisis going on in the K-12 sector and it is tied in part to e-learning (with wins and losses) and LMS vendors who serve that sector. and K-12 LMS vendors (a chunk of them). But for this article the focus will be on those school districts and K-12 LMS vendors (many who are lost in really “getting it”). Possibly three parties in the rest of the world – Schools, some Governments, and a nice slice of K-12 LMS vendors.

Games are great tools for promoting health. I think games for health work so well because they capitalize on our already existing knowledge that we need to stay healthy and then provide tracking of progress, earning of points and other incentives to help us give that extra boost that makes us take the extra 100 steps needed to get our 10,000 for the day. When I searched for "games" in the title, I found 110 articles in peer-reviewed journals in this year (2016) alone.

Colleges and universities have leverage and many LMS vendors offer discounts beyond the typical, due to education. Include m-learning and focus on vendors who are moving to online/offline synch with tablets. As for 3rd party authoring tools, if someone knows how to use robust software, they can learn how to create a robust course, even a simulation. I taught a full 100% online journalism class back in 1999, and went with scenarios rather than examinations. .
