My prediction was that in 2008 we'd see more online rapid e-learning authoring environments come onto the market and the reason I claimed that this prediction was on target was because of the announcements by established authoring tool vendors of two very promising new online products, Unison from Rapid Intake and RapideL-i. I suppose it was only to be expected that other tools were on the market that I didn't know about, including Composica and MyUdutu.

Yesterday, I saw what Rapid Intake is doing with their tools to allow authoring of Mobile Learning - what they call mLearning Studio. By way of background, Rapid Intake provides tools that allow you to very rapidly input content that is composed into courses. The mobile version allows you to compose mobile learning courses using the same authoring system. Rapid Intake's web player is Flash-based.

Rapid Intake is doing mobile learning the right way! They have a new rapid authoring tool rolling out to quickly build mobile learning. However Rapid Intake has done a great job with the visual navigation, interface, and page layouts. I sat through a demo the other day and was impressed with the final course output. The content is packaged in a HTML5 compatible player that works on iPhones, iPads, and Android.

Rapid Intake will announce next week, their newest product: mLearning Studio. It is a rapid content authoring tool for mobile devices, including tablets. I was planning on writing about emerging technology and virtual worlds.

I love this trend, because it clearly says that the rapid content authoring tool vendors are becoming innovative and are seeing the market. Rapid Intake mLearning Studio is near launch. If you are having problems with a rapid content authoring tool and your LMS, please let me know. After one quarter (for most companies) into the fiscal calendar year, it is time to see what the future holds in our space. There is Money in those Hills.
