Authoring Tool Market – What I am seeing

Right now I am doing a survey on authoring tools (more on this at the end of the post) and so far 100% of all respondents state that HTML5 output is required in an authoring tool. I do believe that HTML5 output will continue to grow as an authoring tool feature. I am still stunned that this is slogging away. Not anymore.

In 1989, I created my first interactive video using an authoring platform called IconAuthor, and it required a newfangled operating system called Windows 2.1. Soon after, Apple Computer introduced the Macintosh with Hypercard which, according to Steve Jobs, was an object oriented “programming language for the rest of us.”

You can do this by using tools like Camtasia or QuickTime (you may need to download a plugin to record both audio and video). If you use a Mac, you can use Quicktime or iMovie. For Windows users, you can trim videos with a host of free programs. My advice is to balance convenience and cost. Movie Maker is one that’s easy to use.
