MyUdutu: One of those best kept secrets in e-learning authoring tools

Janet Clarey

I’ve used a bunch of desktop authoring tools – Lectora, Dreamweaver, Authorware, Captivate, and Articulate to name a few. I haven’t really used a lot of web-based authoring tools though. Recently, I’ve been exploring collaborative web-based options for a report I’m writing and was reintroduced to MyUdutu (from Udutu). SCORM conformant. However, it will cost you $5 per learner/course if you want Udutu to host it for you.

Rapid (Collaborative) Authoring Tools for developers/SMEs in multiple locations

Janet Clarey

I’ve been slicing and dicing our Authoring Tool KnowledgeBase and doing some online research in response to a question about collaborative rapid authoring tools that developers in multiple locations can use. After looking at the Authoring Tool KnowledgeBase I went to my LinkedIn and Twitter network. Note to vendors: If you fall in that category, feel free to make comments with information about your authoring tool. IBT Web Authoring (time4you GmbH).

eLearning Guild Authoring & Development Tools Research Report (2008)

Learning Visions

After my session at ISPI earlier this week, someone commented that what would have really been useful is a list of the top 10 authoring tools in the market. Then I went on to show about 12 tools in more detail – some of which would probably make it onto a top ten list (Flash, Captivate, Articulate, and Lectora) – the remaining tools trying to hit at some of the other options out there (Smart Builder, eXe, Udutu, Thinking Worlds, Raptivity, Flypaper, Mohive, and Atlantic Link).

Design Activities the Way You Need, Not How LMS Wants

Presenter, Raptivity, Storyboard, Udutu, and other development tools easily. SCORM. Activities content authored in the LMS should be compliant with the SCORM standard, ensuring that it can play in any LMS.

My Moodle Test

Xyleme

The Blackboard SCORM import/export stuff might not be perfect, but at least they try to let people move content out. So, open source Moodle does not export to SCORM, the most prevalent e-learning standard? Its 18 months old, so I did a quick search of the Moodle forums to see what the status of the SCORM export feature is today. Now I’m realizing that it is NOT scorm compliant – moodle can import courses but not export them in scorm.
