The dominating authoring tool by far, was Authorware. Authorware usage and fan base made Storyline supporters and usage look like a rock stage at a state fair. There are even fans today of Authorware, who if it was still around, would bounce right into it. Other course authoring tools started to appear right after Authorware.

Sure, you can use the extensive list of tools on the market, but for those who want real power and complexity ala from the days of Authorware, pickings are slim. Add lessons – seen in the education versions. Celtix - Enables you to create storyboards and scripts. It’s free. Screen capture.

Anyone who used Authorware can attest to that. When a vendor uses slides as part of their course design approach they are doing you and the person building the course (if not one and the same) a major disservice and fueling the misunderstanding about effective course design. I always used Chapter, Page, Scenario.

On the other hand if the developer does not agree that a change is required, or if he has a question about the feedback, he can type a note to that effect and send that information back to the tester. Or do you often have a suite of, say, 5 or 10 lessons that have a largely similar format? Captivate 4 introduces Project Templates.

Adobe demoed a widget for Captivate that allows Twitter to be embedded inside Captivate lessons.
