I “grew-up&# in eLearning world using Director/Authorware and then moving into Flash/HTML (PPT was “off-limits&# ). Classroom training is often converted to an online format. Every classroom course has a PPT and it’s usually the first thing that someone thinks about when they want to put the course online.

I was using DazzlerMax and Authorware, which are superior offerings for creating courses. I always say it as a dated, archaic system that made SharePoint look like a revolutionary solution for the masses for online learning (it’s not). At the time, I hated it. The people who had PL loved it. A good idea all-around. Two cheers!

PowerPoint is not E-Learning and shouldn’t be used as your course tool/development – For whatever reason, there are people who have been around online learning for years, who still see PPT as a means for the creation of content – i.e. courses. Nope, it was far better – because it was online!

Jay Cross in his famous ketchup bottle shirt- by Ignite Gnomedex 2009. Jay is the guy that coined the term eLearning for the first time in 1998. So he is around already for a while.

Anyone who used Authorware can attest to that. If you want to see if they are an expert, have them bring samples – they should have them online, for you to look at. Anyway, joy was not there, because it required double the work. Authoring tools were limited options and each one was not easy to just pick up and start building.
