Gamification and game-based learning (sometimes abbreviated GBL) are both hot topics and the terms are often used interchangeably. Hopefully this will help: gamification is icing and GBL is cake. Gamification, “Icing”. Gamification is primarily used to motivate learners. In essence, gamification is at work whenever an incentive is offered to encourage someone to do something they are already supposed to be doing. Gamification and GBL are icing and cake.

And yeah there are vendors who will taut that they are in X list or Y rankings and thus should be included. This isn’t a beauty contest, nor a pay for play (I NEVER accept that, nor play that game, nor do I accept any referral fees or whatever some vendors offer for recommending them). In just the past month, I have seen quite a few vendors add this capability in their product – and for the most part they are all RCAT products. Well some vendors have more than 15 come with their product. Anyway, I expect this number i.e. number of vendors to offer more than 10 interactive templates to rise. Nowadays I am seeing vendors offer 15, 17, 25 and even 30 templates.
