CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn. Why have a system to house courses, when ILT was the main way of learning and training?

One competitor purchased a VLP as a key component, SAP purchased SuccessFactors, a recruiting system initially turned HCM, who had acquired Plateau, a strong but awful UI/UX LMS. SuccessFactors constantly stated they would invest heavily into Plateau and initially, vast improvement was to be found. And the winner is.

Never mind, now back to our regular scheduled blog. If you visit the Taleo home page, you will learn the following two items. I must have been sleeping, but when did “learning” slide under Talent Management? Oracle then followed suit by acquiring SuccessFactors who had acquired Plateau in the past.

The Extended Enterprise blog post and directory will be visible this weekend. Three months ago, only a few systems had either integrated for no additional charge or for additional fees, a talent management/performance management feature set. A couple of vendors have added HRIS modules. Ahh, how things have changed. Prediction.

I know some of you will disagree with the nominees, perhaps feeling that your company or vendor should be in there, and I totally respect that. I mean if a turkey can wear tennis shoes, why can’t you update your system? Functionality – Totally in learning systems here. Some functionality are just turkeys.

These are being reported out of the larger eLearningGuild population and I would claim that they are likely more accurate than survey research that goes through the vendors themselves. Several of the LMS vendors appear more than once, such as Oracle. They can be used to see how LMS vendors stack up against particular features.
