Many programs have this feature build in (i.e. Adobe Captivate and the new Articulate Storyline), but some prefer a third party program – and for years the standard bearer has been Camtasia Studio. Don’t get me wrong, Camtasia Studio is pretty great. However, it does come with a hefty price tag.

Often times B-roll is hard to plan for, so be sure to budget time with your interview subject to walk with them and shoot appropriate B-roll for your video. Deciding on an editing program depends on your needs and how much time you can spare to learn the editing process. Post Production. Distribution.

Here's the question: I have some extra budget money and I need to invest in software and hardware that will help me create cutting edge, top shelf eLearning programs. I can't claim that many of us will face the problem of having a budget that we need to use before the end of the year. It has to work with Articulate of course!

Organisations can be hesitant to invest in an eLearning program until they have some proof that it will ultimately deliver a return on investment. Waiting for a carte-du-jour of perfectly designed eLearning courses to be ready to launch an eLearning program is a sure-fire way to guarantee you will never be ready to launch.

Budget Captivate is a highly advanced, fully functional eLearning software development tool, and its cost reflects that: $999 to purchase. Student/teacher editions upgrade: $149. Are you using one of or both of these programs?

Budget: Be mindful of the budget. Compare the features you need against your budget and whether you can afford the tools you need. If you have a team that requires different logins per user, then you need to plan ahead and think about whether that fits into the budget. Cons: It has a downloadable program only.

After the Vado, I upgraded to the Toshiba Camileo (1080p/30fps). Be sure to factor that into your budget. Camtasia is an industry favorite screencast software with all of the previously-mentioned features. To improve audio quality when using these programs, you could consider a piece of audio editing software like Audacity.
