While Mike’s video example is simple, it could easily be a role-played scenario with decisions that branch to additional video scenarios. Linear courses are often the result of our focus on sharing information and not knowing how to move beyond this. Instead of pushing information out, create a way for the learner to pull information in. The assumption is that with more information things will be better. But information is only part of the learning process.

That’s a good question, especially in this economy because the training group is usually one of the first groups targeted when an organization needs to make some cuts to the budget. Is it about information or performance? For example, an information course may not require a lot of interactivity (which takes more time to build).
