Again, the iPad runs with HTML5, not Flash nor Java. True, the other tablets and Samsung offer Flash 10.1

Vendors who do not have anyone in their booth, during expo times – I see this at all shows, regardless of the product or market; but at e-learning/training shows you see it a lot OR you see them eating in their booth. It is a serious problem in our space, and goes across all products and business size. Questionmark.

You get the Flash code – YES – you get the code, which you can do whatever you want with it. 264 codec, which the iPad supports, and a few browsers for HTML5. Many vendors hyping PowerPoint to Flash angle as key feature.

Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Flash output – still red hot. One vendor focuses only on Blackberry (not just Playbook but their smartphone like product). Flash isn’t going anywhere, except maybe the route of leaded gasoline.

Another small trend is providing advanced admin capabilities in the form of admins who have CSS, Flash,PHP or other languages. Expansion into the SBM (Small Business Market). Smaller size vendors already see this as a real revenue generator. Some of these vendors are only targeting this market and not anything higher.

But, the reason I constantly bash this into e-learning vendors heads is they just DON’T GET IT. HTML5 will be available on every one of those tablets, plus they will offer Flash (notable exception the iPad). Oh, yeah, social learning. LMS vendors who are moving into the Talent Management Space.

I’ve always found this product to be the top of the line for PowerPoint to Flash course builds. It is easy to use and once you learn it, easy to push out content. But, from an e-learning developer standpoint, the thought of using a template is the same as painting with numbers. Articulate. Adobe Captivate.
