How to design action-packed elearning

Making Change

The webinar shows how to: Choose a goal that leads to a measurable business improvement. I didn’t announce this one because it was my first time flying solo as both a presenter and moderator in Elluminate. Need to design lean, lively elearning?

LearnTrends: Extending Learning to the Edges of Organizations

Experiencing eLearning

Performance support–business process guidance & JIT learning. Tried to show video of Meet Charlotte, but video doesn’t work well over Elluminate. None of these tools will work if you don’t spend significant time engaging with the business–engaging learners, change management. Business results? Business results: for SLX, they are looking at how expert knowledge is transferred to others & applied.

Through this, and because of my My LinkedIn Open Connection Approach where I basically treat LinkedIn like a really big business mixer, I have lots of opportunity to "meet" new people online. Add it to your Elluminate and WebEx profiles. A few other thoughts on this topic: In business networking, using stylized photos or anything other than a normal photorealistic picture says – I'm playful and fun, but maybe not all that serious about all this stuff.

Thoughts following April Learntrends

Jay Cross

We recorded the sessions directly off the web, i.e. outside of Elluminate. Tags: Business learning Informal Learning Yesterday, Learntrends hosted a series of online conversations on boosting the performance of organizations through learning. Our goal was honest dialog among as many members as possible. No commercials. No presentations. Few or no slides. Often, we threw three or four great people into an online fishbowl and let the conversation go where it would.

Add it to your Elluminate and WebEx profiles. I also suggested that for business networking: Don't use anything other that photorealistic photos. I'm running into you on a business networking site. My goals are generally directed learning goals or maybe I'm thinking about issues with my business or my clients. It's happened for years at business mixers. They also make snap judgments at business mixers.

A powerful virtual classroom: Adobe Connect 8

Janet Clarey

Adobe is in the software business. We’re in the training business.

Free and Open Source Web Conferencing (Online Meetings, Webinars.

People keep asking me to do this and I've just been too busy to do a good job of it like you have here! I have used before and Elluminate (but this is not open source.) Elluminate is a really nice tool but not open source.

Is Second Life 100% experimental?

E-Learning Acupuncture

If you were running a business and your clientele rose from 3 million to 11 million in just one year, then people would be buzzing about you too. I would choose something like Elluminate Live for my synchronous activities. Elluminate's learning curve is a much more gentle slope. That’s what has occurred on Second Life (SL) in the 2007 calendar year.

E-learning on a shoestring

But most people don't work for large corporate or public bodies; they work for the millions of smaller businesses and not-for-profits that make up a significant proportion of any nation's economy. Get a license to Webex, Elluminate or something similar (perhaps even a free web conferencing tool like DimDim) to provide the capability to run live online sessions. E-learning in the workplace used to be the preserve of the large corporate or public body.

Another Stake in Ground for Blackboard: Two New Investments in the Open-source E-learning Market

To that end, Blackboard has launched a new business called Blackboard Education Open Source Services – a good thing, right? For now, enterprise users of Moodlerooms and NetSpot can rest easy knowing that Blackboard plans on letting them run as they are now vs. swallowing them whole as they did with Elluminate, the virtual classroom. Blackboard’s statement of principles about open source says it is.

Launching a Web Collaboration Platform? Here’s How to Get Past the Naysayers

But they’re the exception, still, not the rule, in the wider business universe, where breakthrough apps and tools are still uncharted — and often confusing — territory for decision makers.

Collaborative Learning Using Web 2.0 Tools - A Summary

Tony Karrer

All professionals (including learning professionals) are extremely busy. Firewalls and restrictive corporate environments caused us considerable grief: Yahoo Groups were restricted in some corporate environments, Elluminate did not work through several firewalls, we had to switch to WebEx and that really goofed up the start of the course; Yahoo Toolbar (for MyWeb ) couldn't be installed on locked desktops.

Four Reasons you need structure for informal learning

During the Elluminate sessions, we often had heady academic discourses by those running the session, sometimes allowing little time for feedback. The inventive CLOs and others who are establishing more social approaches are probably too busy to spend time taking surveys!

as an aside I was recently talking to a generic courseware provider and expressing amazement that they were still in business given that no one has ever wanted a generic course but a solution to a specifc problem and he replied that they may be a dinosaur but that dinosaurs survived for thousands of years and it took a meteor hit to wipe them out - good point!)
