Corporate eLearning Strategies and Development

Connectbeam is just another company convinced that the activities of this new web generation will be a productive part of how we do business. Instead of having a closed committee of “experts&# sitting in a room deciding how to organize the information you rcv, YOU, and communities of practice you belong too, decide, tag, and bookmark. Techcrunch introduced me to Connectbeam.

Models for Learning Questions

Tony Karrer

My portion was a fast paced look at several important environmental trends such as: Decreased L&D budgets (see Business of Learning ) Faster pace Increased workforce mobility Shorter job tenure Increased job fragmentation - fewer numbers in any one role Constant increase in complexity Greater concept work Need for faster proficiency Changing expectations for learning The bottom line is that Learning and Development needs to do more with less these days or they will be marginalized.

A Speedbump for Social Learning

eLearning Weekly

or Social Learning, there’s a relatively new wave of tools and technologies that allow people to communicate and collaborate in a surprisingly easy and effective way. Some of these tools and technologies include wikis, blogs, social bookmarking, and social networking. In terms of being ready for business use, blogs and wikis appear to be ahead of the pack. But social bookmarking and social networking tools are lagging behind a bit.

Web 2.0 Applications in Learning

Tony Karrer

Question 1 - What are the most likely ways / places your organization might or does use Blogs, Wikis, Social Bookmarking, Social Networking or Collaboration Tools? IBM I only briefly mentioned how other organizations are adopting these tools in a big way - The Wall Street Journal - June 18 2007 - social networking at IBM 26,000 registered blogs. I've not really seen good examples of business cases (future ROI) for using these tools.

PLE - PWLE Discussion Contiunes - Corporate vs Personal and IP Rights

Tony Karrer

Clearly this is a different use of PLE's than those outside the firewall, for free rangers, and for learning from everything of personal interest. Nor is the implication that businesses are out to steal workers' intellectual property. then shouldn't you make sure you provide these tools now rather than having tools adopted that are outside the firewall and personally owned where you will lose the content if the employee leaves?

LMS vendors: R u hearing us?

eLearning 24-7

30% vendors offer at least one type of social media – from my latest LMS directory. Dozens of LMS vendors, had typos on their web pages, zero screens of the system, links that went nowhere and two kicked up my Firewall warning of possible privacy collection and one had a Trojan Horse (I use a hardcore firewall and A/V). Many made it nearly impossible to find their social media to follow, friend or check out their social bookmarks. Social Media.

SMBs and Social Learning Technologies

Janet Clarey

SMBs & Social Media (Sum Total). Other notes: Definition of social media vary among attendees (~160). Noted main difference between main stream media and social media. Social media enables everyone to publish/access info inexpensively. Where we are today: Primary forms of social learning technologies used in corporations today appear to be e-mail, live online learning (Web conferencing), threaded discussion, and collaborative content development.
