Product Review: GeoLearning GeoMaestro

eLearning 24-7

GeoLearning’s GeoMaestro is a LMS that packs a wallop but at the same time has some features that provide limitations. While the solution delivers more than enough for a LMS and the company gets “it&# for where the industry needs to go, GeoLearning has made some interesting decisions with GeoMaestro that to say the least is bewildering. What is really nice about GeoMaestro is that GeoLearning has thought long and hard about this issue and has solved it.

LMSs that kick ass: GeoLearning

Of all commercial LMSs, I probably have the most hands-on experience with GeoLearning ’s various products and services having managed an enterprise implementation several years ago. It was a multi-phase implementation (LMS, LCMS, Talent Management) that went off pretty smooth and the team at GeoLearning was great to work with. Anyway, GeoLearning’s LMS is pretty super too (AWESOME transition, huh?).

Niche Is the New Black: ASTD Conference Day 2

CLO Magazine

Since I saw Chris and Moki last, they’ve dropped out of the 9 to 5 and started up their own business serving a unique niche. Their business idea? Worldwide, the soccer industry is a booming business and Euro teams like Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid are giants. Over dinner at a great Cuban restaurant outside Orlando, they told me how their little niche business grew almost right from the start.

If you just want the LMS, then the best fit IMO is SMB (Small to mid-size business). SumTotal ruined IMO the GeoLearning LMS known as Maestro and will Skillsoft buying SumTotal, I wondered to myself whether this would be great or awful. Welcome, welcome all! To those from HR who are new to this blog, I give a high five. To those who have been constant readers, I give a high five with a low five to boot.

On the Maestro side (formally GeoLearning), I don’t understand how they could have dropped the ball on the platform. Here is my list (both from a business and system standpoint). The web site (a form of digital marketing) and digital marketing in general should be quite obvious – since it is tied to strategy – especially in today’s business world. There is nothing like interaction.

On behalf of a blog reader, I had the opportunity to listen in on a webinar for the Taleo Learn Business Edition. This is the former GeoLearning Maestro solution, which is now listed as SumTotal Learning Maestro. I found it a tad high for small business, thus I do not see it as a SMB product. I have them on my watch list for 2012, and I hope they change their name – after all they are targeting businesses not education.
