AG08 - Day 1 - Summary

Day 1 of AG08 was busy and completely wore me out - but it was all worth it! I think the role of the LMS will shift to become less important in the next few years, as people realize the value of social learning tools, such as wikis, tagging, social bookmarking, blogging, etc. The day started with an early discussion at one the Breakfast Byte sessions and ended with dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant with some great newfound friends.

For the majority, their busy lifestyles did not allow them to enjoy more than brief contact with their fellow students on more than a once weekly basis because travel into a teaching centre can be time consuming, expensive and tiring.

Tools - A Summary and particularly my use of the course wiki as the basis for putting course notes, having each team put up their work, etc. Ranking, tagging, top stories Tags link back to the tagger's BluePages profile IBM owns more than 50 islands in Second Life. I've not really seen good examples of business cases (future ROI) for using these tools. Last week I presented a session at ASTD TechKnowledge entitled eLearning 2.0 - Applications and Implications.
